I took the old stabilizer off my D44 and am about to put it on my newly rebuilt D60 and I noticed that oil is leaking from the boot. I won't be in 4x4 for a while because of gearing difference, but is this a big issue or will I be OK? The stabilizer still has plenty of resistance. Should it be replaced or just cleaned up and reinstalled?

The steering stabilizer has nothing to do with 4WD. It helps damp the steering which I'd imagine you use whether you are in 2WD or 4WD ;)

Steering stabilizers are cheap but they are pretty worthless IMO. If I were you I would just put the one you have back on there.

A lot depends on the truck and geometry. Every truck is different. I went with new ball joints and crossover on my 10 bolt and dumped the steering stabilizer all together. I've had no issues.

My previous truck 76 K5 - The stabilizer went bad and I almost lost control of it on the freeway. I hit a bump and had a DW that stained my drawers.

I stabilizer is just a shock. Think about a shock going bad on your truck. If its bad and leaking oil, its not going to help, if needed.

just my $0.02
