Is there a name for this piece? It is the piece that bolts onto the stabilizer and then has the tapered end to go into the tie rod.

Like a moron:doah:, I used a hammer to get my steering stabilizer off of the tie rod (I was too lazy to plug in my compressor and use my air hammer/pickle fork). I should have at least left the castle nut on when I hit it, but I did not. The result is that I mushroomed the threads around the cotter pin hole.
So I am trying to find a replacement and I can not track one down. "4 Wheel Parts" wants to sell me a whole new stabilizer and auto parts stores just say sorry, can't find that.

Any advise? Anyone have one to sell?
Thanks,

I'm thinking it might be a dealer only piece, since it comes with the steering stab. You MIGHT be able to call Rancho or the like and cajole them into sending you one.

I'd go to the Pick-N-Pulls myself.

It would be re-threadable, prolly, if you have the right fine threaded die. If you don't have one, you might be able to find someone local with one ... worst case you could ship it to a kind member, have them re-thread it and ship it back, though that would take a while.

In theory a local machine shop could fix it, though the cost involved could be prohibitive.

Could try the truck without the steering stab and see how it drives; many folks don't use 'em.

I don't have a die that size, but perhaps I can find one local. You guys gave me an idea as well; maybe I can just cut it at the damaged threads.

I still have the stock stabilizer on the Suburban as this was from an aftermarket one. Worst case a new stabilizer is only $30 - $40.

thanks for the help,
