so would the autozone steering damper be a good oem replacement that would stand up to 33x12.50 tires? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

i think a shock just absorbs shock, and dosnt stabilize, im just gunna buy the damn thing, i know mine is shot to hell, and is probly the factory one, so im just gunna goto
autozone and pick one up, or get a ranchero one, probly the autozone HD one if they have it there.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but a steering stabilizer is just a shock with 50:50 compression:rebound valving, no?

yea i think it does have equal valveing, im just oblivious to these things, all i know is that they stabilize the steering for you, and help out.

/forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

yea all they do is absorb the the play when your tires go in a rut or something..which would normally make your steering wheel jerk away...the stabalizer helps to get rid of that play. thats all.

interesting, well tomarow im gunna go grab me a delco oil filter, 5 quarts of 10w40, and a steering stabilizer at autozone, lay on the ground in the 40 degree weather we are gunna have tomarow and do this. thanks everyone /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

sounds cool..i gatta get some new shocks my self...id like to get some rancho RS5000's...they seem pretty reasonable. but if i have a really small budget ill probobly get some cheap gabrials or something. i also need a stabalizer cuase mine got bent when the moron befor me pulled it form the tie rod bar.

Damn!, i would of thought that would of ripped off your tie rod bar! well mine is just old and shows signs of leaking, and i got moola from my parents for chrismas for an oil filter, oil, and the steering stabilizer, and someone on here said the steering stabilizer from autozone is decent, might as well get all my shopping done at one joint, i hope your stabilizer siuation works out, and get some tow hooks for the front of your truck will ya /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

yea really haha. yea i need quite a few things for my truck...also tires/wheels..and i gatta get around ot patching that floor and putting the new rear tailpan in and getting the heater working..gas gauge working...and do something about the exhuast on it..and i gotta get a lot of this done befor febuary!!

man, well yea, i guess you do have a few things, but if this is gunna be your trail "Beater" and not your show peice, this is what i'd "probly do, for your hole in the floor, id take some insulateing foam and a peice of sheet metal, cut the metal to cover the hole, then use insulateing foam as like a "glue" around the hole, and for the exaust, put a tail pipe on it, but thats only what i did with my exaust, well good luck on that, hope it all comes together before febuary. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif

so do i! ill probobly get the tailpan from like jcwhitney...and go over to the steel place here..and get a couple big oll sheets of sheet medal. put that all in and patch up the floor...also along with new rocker panals. and the rest of the little holes prolly put like body filler or something in it /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif to kinda seal it out. then im going ot put a rubber floor mat set in inplace of carpet, put the seats back in and call it good. ill put a dual exhuast on it with some glass packs..find some used tires and wheels some place (33's)and trim the fenders... and put my shocks and new tie road bar and stabalizer..(probobly of my parts truck) on it. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif then i should be ready to roll.

so did ya'll think that the autozone steering stabilizer will be alright, for occasional off-roading and 33x12.50's? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

/forums/images/graemlins/usaflag.gif /forums/images/graemlins/truck.gif
