Steering upgrade

I thought you had bump steer issues ?

All the '67-'87 chevy trucks pull to one side under heavy braking. The short draglink gets 'pulled on.' This causes the wheels to turn. This happens with crossover steering as well (per ORD). It seems like a draglink that is 5x longer would eliminate the problem but it doesn't. Maybe bump steer is the wrong term. Brake steer?

Thanks for all the info. Thinking I am going to go with the crossover steering kit from off-road design which also includes the purchase of a 2wd steering box from PSC. Anything else that should be upgraded in the front end when I do this? For the most part the rest of the front end seems pretty tight.

If you have the coin......get a ram assist set-up from PSC...with big tires it will make a significant difference in ease of steering

Yep. Already have power steering and will be getting the ported 2wd box. Do I still need to the frame strengthening even though I won’t be doing heavy off-roading?

Yes add the frame plate and brace.

Make sure that your front crossmember is the one that the ORD brace is designed for. You may not be able to bolt their brace in without some work. That is why I made one for my son's '72. My '70 has the factory brace inside the rail, no brace added. (Yet).. My son's truck didn't have the factory piece, plus the different X-member.
