There doesn't seem to be a thread like this, (Unless there is, and the search function is just a turd) so here goes.

What steering wheel do you have?

Most people like putting the GMT400 steering wheels on they're older trucks, but they are too thick for me. If you look on craigslist it seems like everyone wants to put tiny aftermarket steering wheels on these trucks, and I hate it.

For the longest time I just kept the factory one, since it was decent shape, but I never liked the hard edge on the rim, so the last time I was in the junkyard I grabbed the steering wheel from a 73 C60, and I love it, It's a simple three spoke design, about an inch bigger round, and doesn't have the hard edge of the smaller truck steering wheel's.

Note; If your a bigger guy without a tilt column, I wouldn't recommend the C60 steering wheel, because like I said, It's about an inch bigger overall, you do the math.

I'm interested to see what everyone is using as well. I think the stock steering wheel on my '72 was 18" which I thought was too big. I replaced with an aftermarket 16" but that feels too small. At some point I'd like to look for a 17".

Pretty low priority for me though.

I am running a small diameter Grant. It was free and the big wheel was too slow at 60 MPH on dirt roads in Mexico. Way too much input to make the truck turn.

Heres how the C60 steering wheel looks on there.

I think that the next old Chevy I end up with, will get one of these too.

I put these in literally EVERYTHING I drive that doesn't have an air bag:

Ya, and it makes the slop in the steering box feel like it's not so bad.:doah::haha:

Seriously I love the feel of driving with a little 13 1/2" - 14" wheel.

GMT400 in the blazer. I tried the little GT wheel above but didn't like it. Wanted to rotate too much while rock crawling, the larger wheel is easier to hold on to plus it sits in a more comfortable position.

My '68 is a street truck and could use a smaller wheel that's NOT in my chest. The '68 came with the same wheel as that C60 above. I'm going with this 14" Forever Sharp wheel

The reason I don't like the aftermarket steering wheels is that almost all of them are considerably smaller than a stock one, and they also are usually pretty thick, I don't like either of those attributes, hence why I like the one from the older / bigger trucks, It's about an inch bigger and a tad thinner.
