I have a 77 blazer, and would like to do the XJ shaft. I also want to do cross over steering, and thought I could get a newer 2wd box for that, and It would help ease the xj swap. Is this a correct assumption? Also I am doing hydro assis, how well does a 2wd box handle that? I'm currently using a dana 44, and will just replace the stabilizer with a small ram. I'm trying to make as many parts as possible easily usable on a d60 swap if I ever find one. Also, anyone know where to find a front or maybe even a rear sway bar as well?

A hydro ram that is the correct travel will not fit in the stock location of the steering stabilizer, it will be too long still. To give you an idea i have an 8" stroke ram and one end mounts to my diff cover and the other just about even with the driver side spring pack.

Damn, was worried about that. I think I was going to use a 10 inch too with wahsers to limit travel (that will also fix the problem I have now, at lock everything makes a horrible grinding squeaking noise, dunno why, and the ram limiting the radius a degree or two could prevent that god awful noise.)

The axle shafts that are located in the front axle. If they are bad they will pop and make noise when turning. You must disassemble the front knuckles to get the axles out. This would also be a good time to change your ball joints with the Moog brand ball joints. Also for the u-joints i would try to find spicer joints. Most driveline shops carry the spicer line.
