This motor is replacing
my old 396 in the "Truck Blazer". Shown there on it's last leg.
To make things more complex, here's the history of the Truck Blazer's motors:
2001- SB400 that I yanked out of a $250 2wd parts truck.
2002-
454 that I pulled out of a '77 Crew Cab.
2003-2005- 396 that I pulled out of the "Big Crew Cab"
2005- 454 that I pulled out of my Suburban that before that I pulled out of another Suburban.
The 454 from my Suburban got yanked out of the Truck Blazer last Fall and put into the Stepside of which I had yanked the
Stepside's 396 out because of a spun bearing. And then I took the 396 with the spun bearing and this is that motor.
I took the old smoking 396 that came out of the Truck Blazer and Big Crew Cab before that, and sold that shortblock as a core for $400, and I spent $400 to have an engine builder freshen up this 396. I kept the gear drive from the 396 I sold and put it on this one.
Essentially, this motor will be the same as the last one.
