Hey all. I'm having a heck of a time finding info on nerf step bars that are easy to install. There has been one or two that look good but the reviews stay they are weak and flex a ton when stepping on them. Many others have install instructions that call for turning your frame into Swiss cheese with drilling lots of holes. I would have thought the after market would have come up with a K5 specific quick bolt on option long ago. Maybe I'm just missing something. Any recommendations?.

I have been eyeing up diy4x rock sliders... and bumpers for over a year. Gonna pull the trigger this spring. Nothing else out there compares besides some of what the guys on here fabricate. I would go for the level install and have a flat plate on top to use for ingress egress. Wife is short and my buddies are getting old and fat.

My DIY4X sliders arrived Friday but I haven’t been able to install them yet. Mine are flat with fill plates like you described.

Kert (DIY4X) will also build them angled down, 25* iirc.

Fyi, the fill plates and extra stantion tube are an add on accessory.

No pics of me playing, just during a break

no one to blame but yourself

:D

I literally have tears running down my face I’m laughing so hard. :doah:

Well played, Sir... Well played. :haha:

I would like to see some pics once you get them mounted. I’m curious why you mentioned that he will make them angled down 20*? Do you think that would be better than flat for use as a step?

I don’t know, the only thing I can think of with the sliders angled down is them getting hung up on stuff. It just depends on what you do with it and where. They’d work good as a step if clearance wasn’t an issue.

I can’t picture a set installed angled down being an advantage if one of the primary use would be for a step, as most steps are level... I don’t think it would look right either.

These really help as a step and protection.

Yeah, looks like they're level. Sliders that are clocked up are tight against the body, you couldn't use them as a step.

I agree, clocked down would look awkward.

They are level. They work great with a 4" lift.....But, now that it has a 9" lift, you better be pretty flexible or use a step to reach the slider. :doah:

Agreed. I'm at 8" and see them more as protection and a good platform to step off of rather than a step up.

Thanks for that picture wheels87k5. I have been trying to find a good picture of the sliders flat as the main use for mine will be a step.
Is the smooth tube slick at all using it as a step? I would hate for my wife or kid to slip on it.
