Any one Know where to get some nice steps of nerf bars for my 1970 K5? Everywhere I look they say they don't make any.:dunno: I have a 4" lift and the wife has a hard time getting in.

Talk to Kert at DIY4x. I had him make a set of tube rock rails for mine for about the same price LMC wanted for their nerf bars. Bolted on and FAR tougher than thin skin nerf bars.

I installed these on my blazer- They are "carr" brand hoops. Cast aluminum with a coating on it. I made a mount for them underneath. I ran angle iron- flat side laid against the rocker, and bolted it to each body support with 2 grade 5 bolts on each end. I needed them for the same reason. They are pretty stiff and work great. Plus you can unbolt the step itself and leave the bracket underneath and no one would know. I'll see tonight if I have a pic of the mounts.

I still dont see how those function as a step, doesn't look like much room to place your foot. Wish you had a pic with the door open and a foot on them :D

I'll try and remember to get a picture from the back or front. Obijuan has a good picture of his DIY4x steps on his K5 like this. Plenty of room to put your foot on and nice and beefy. They don't give at all.

I've seen careless people whack their doors into them very hard and they came out the worse.

I have these same steps on my same colored K5...weird:waytogo:... after two trips to moab and countless other wheeling trips they are barely hanging on. I catch them on everything:doah: Having DIY4x build me rockers is in my future.

I know the steps themselves are aluminum, but what about the supplied brackets, steel? I ask because if they are steel I will buy them and just weld the brackets in.
