So I know that they are hard to find but where can they be found? I know that LMC has them, but I want a better quality replacement.

yah they are hard to find, i have an extra set but even those have some damage to them. if yours are damaged and your trying to replace them, id just take them off and take them to a body shop. they wont charge much to fix 2 stepside fenders that are already off.

I`m in the process of finding a stepside bed to use for my project. If I find one, and its got good fenders, I`ll let you know:wink1:

If I had time, everytime I go to PNP I find at least one or 2 of those in very good shape.
I'll see if my friend has the time to get a few and i can take them with me to the east coast.:D

They're almost identical from 1955 thru 1987. Unless you absolutely insist on new ones, look for a bed that's been turned into a trailer, that's where I got a set a few years back. They were actually straighter than most of the newer (and higher priced) ones I'd looked at.

Actually, they changed with every new generation of pickups that came out. The 73-87 version had some variations as well. From 73-78 they have the little marker lights on the side. And on the 79-87 version they have the square gas lid thingy.

Yeah, I knew there were some differences, but as long as this isn't an absolutely correct restoration and the bolt holes line up, does it really matter?

True, but I found out that it is impossible to find a new stepside fender for the drivers side that has the square gas lid. They just don't make it! And being in New England, I'm kinda too far north in the rust belt to find one in good condition. I can get a new passengerside one without trouble, but the driverside is worse. :doah:

Too bad it's so far and shipping would be a bear, I'm sure I could scrounge something up around here. By the time it got to you, it would probably cost as much as a complete bed :D

:doah::crazy: if it costs more than $300 then forget it. I figure that since a new reproduction fender is $200 and then shipping is about $100, $300 sounds the max.
