Well I own an 87 stepside and I love my truck. I love the look and I think the stepside is very functional. The only problem thats beginning to bug me about it that was brought to my attension by my cousin was that everybodies trucks that i went wheeling with look very military/untility like. I love that look and have personally always wanted a military themed truck.

Seeing as how my truck is a stepside I always thought it looked more like a show truck or a mud bog special than military truck. So I'm trying to come up with ideas to make it look more military like. I know I could find a shortbed fleetside and just switch it out and be done. Its still a possibility I may do that but I'm looking for more options/opinions on what I could do for possibly custom fenders for the stepside.

I always had this idea to make deuce troop carrier style sides for the thing so thats an idea but i dont really have money for the steel. I was thinking about just yanking the fenders off and seeing what it looked like. (I know open wheels but the cops are here just dont care). Anyone ever snapped any pics of custom fenders or none at all?

Thanks alot.

heres is the side of mine with the fender off. (apperantly i cant find the pic of it without fenders, ill go to the shop later and take one)

if your wanting a stepside and military styling. you could take the fenders off, and make steel fenders like whats on the old military trailers. square style fenders.

Yeah I was thinking that too but then the fronts and backs would be completely mismatched. I was talking to my buddy that always does my welding and the way we layed it out the duece style bed would be cake. The only thing that would suck would be cutting the rolled edges off the side of the center section.

They would bolt onto the center box and be removable just incase I choose to go back to a different fender. I think it would look pretty cool personally but it would need to be done right.

I was also thinking of just chopping the stock fenders horizontally at the top edge of the wheel well.

Some rough paint chopping of a pic I found. I like the first design better.
