Where can I get factory style stepside taillight harness plugs? I'm talking about the two connectors at each taillight. Specifically the reverse light plug. It looks like this:

I can only seem to find entire taillight harnesses for around $100. I don't need tall the wiring I just need that pesky little plug. Any ideas where I can find one?

Checked mouser.com?

Have absolutely no idea what that is called though, so searching would be painful unless someone can tell us what the name of that style connector is. Parts manual might have the connector listed by part number (although I doubt it, those are molded to the wire aren't they?), same style as the earlier rear light/tailgate connectors.

Give M&H electric fabricators a call. Their website is wiringharness.com. They made/rebuilt my complete harness for my stepside. So I know that they can help get what you need. They were very helpful when I had mine done.

You could snip some license plate light harness wiring plugs which should be the same on similar vintage trucks at a salvage yard ,those might be in better shape not being so exposed to the weather..

I doubt GM ever sold those separately, being a molded in part of the harness..

Another thought is Jeeps use the same tail lights as stepsides,if they use that connector maybe a Jeep dealer might sell them--also you might look at NAPA or other parts stores Grote or Deitz lamp catalogs, they may make an aftermarket replacement one for their lamps that are like OEM ones..

I'll try to check my parts manual tonight. It's '85+ though, any idea if those connectors stayed the same on the step sides? I know they changed on the trucks around 1985 from that style to weatherpack.

That's the style I have though 79-84.
67-78 had them too I believe but they had the extra marker light on the bed fenders.

I think you might be stuck buying a harness like the one you posted. You would probably be better off doing that anyway. Then there wouldn't be any extra connections to possible go bad.

Only thing my manual tells me is PN 12041763

Looking that up, not finding it available online, although the year interchanges are flakey. The parts manual IMAGE shows what you have as the connector, but often they just continued the illustration forward without change if it was something as basic as the plug design since it shows the whole bed assembly in the same image.

Without knowing who made them originally, I'm pretty much at a loss. Generally same connector style as the 1984-down SM465 reverse light connector as well IIRC.

My 465 had a weather pack connector...

It changed sometime in the 80's. The early ones were the round style "rubber" plug. I hate them lol.
