I just installed a stereo in my blazer and its makeing a weird noise. Its a brand new pioneer deck with alpine speakers. It sounds fine when the key is in the run postion it sounds all staticy...even when playing cd's. i tested the speakers and head in a diffrent truck and they worked fine. I ran the yellow and red wires straight to the the postive termanal and the black straight to the ground checked all the connections and speaker wires and they are all good. The noise is comming from all speakers but it does seem to get better and worse sometimes. I assume the only thing left is interfernce from the engine. but i thought that normaly increases with engine RPM and mine doesnt. Im not running an amp but i do have an aftermarket distruibtor wires and a 140 alternator. What can I do to get the noise to stop? Thanks

"It sounds fine when the key is in the run postion it sounds all staticy"- huh?

Yellow is Constant 12v
Red is Ignition
Black Ground-ground as close to stereo as possible.

Where are your speaker wires ran?

gotta be a ground issue check the passenger side rear of the motor there should be a small grounding strap there from the bell housing to the frame rail.

X2

make sure you aren't sharing a ground with other electrical components in the truck. that is most likely where the interference is coming from.

there should be one ground from the battery to the frame and then one ground from the back of the head to the body right?
