I see that Canback is making tops for the K5 again and STC is out of bussiness. Could I get a long term review on your canback since your how-to/tech review? I am willing to pay good $ for somthing that lasts.

Thanks.

I had no idea that STC was out of business.... that sucks if I ever need replacement parts.

Their website doesn't indicate it:

I would also be interested in hearing about a long term CanBack review.

I think you were on the thread I was talking about yesterday concerning the group buy of CanBack tops (in Jan) Is this something you would be interested in?

Yes I am interested. But it depends on the group price and long term review.

Right on. The Can-Back doesn't fold down like the STC. Just rolls up the sides. I've heard (what ever that means) that the quality is fantastic and that the supports are super strong. I'm pretty interested. I'm thinking about the weight reduction because I am going to stay with the 10 bolt front/12 bolt rear. I have alot of money in upgrades for them and also like their lightness. I know that they will never be as strong as the 1 tone stuff but with enough upgrades coupled with some weight reduction they may do pretty good. I was thinking about a fiberglass hood and a truck tail gate, too. My interior is stripped and bedlined and I have aluminum heads that also help with the weight reduction. All totalled the weight reduction should be more than the gains I had when I put on my sliders and tube bumpers not to mention the 95 pound tires. Let me know what you think.

wow when did stc go out, i just bought a snaptrac from them through ord. received it in june, wasn't too bad to install but very happy with it, i know my kids love it..........

I swear that at Blazer Bash this past weekend that in the raffle was a certificate for an STC soft top.

Look at this website and scroll to the second to last raffle prizes and you'll see STC tops is one of the items being raffled off and their website link still works too. www.blazerbash.com

I've had 2 1 I sold to I4x4 and he still has igt in good shape and I think it is 7yrs old now still looks good. The other 1 is on my k5 and is awesome shape. Good chunk of change to spend on a top but winters are not friendly on vinyl and the sunbrella seems to hold up well.

This is kinda what I wanted to hear. I will pay good $ for somthing that can last 7 years.

I don't think Mr Fox is the right guy to ask about long term Soft Top reviews . Last I knew , all he had left of his K5 was some floor , the motor , and part of the frame :wink1:
