sticking gas pedal

Im new to the k5 scene but I've always wanted on so i got one. its a 89 TBI and i just put a new long block in it and my gas pedal is sticking. hooked up to
my scan tool and after letting off of it is sticks about 300RPM's too high. i can lift it up by foot and it idles fine.the pedal spring was very hard and got that fixed now it stick.. just looking for any help. would like to drive this thing soon..:D
 
Spray lubricant into the throttle cable (if you can) and clean all of the moving parts on the throttle body and then spray them with lubricant.

same thing I was gonna say. I had a that problem with the linkage on my edelbrock carb when I first got it.
