i have dual batterys and im using a pac 200 battery isolater(http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_5287_PAC-PAC-200.html) that uses a manuel switch to operate. so to have the 2nd battery turned on i gota flip a switch. but anyways when i run with the 2nd battery and kc lites on for to long i blow a coil. would a voltage regulator help this? also with the 4 kc lites goin, stock headlites and heater goin its puts to much of draw on my 140 amp single wire altanator and the volts drop below 12. and when i turn on my 2nd battery the volts still dont go above 14 with no acessorys on. im looking to puting in electric fans but when i run my kc's theres already a big draw on my system. my lights have relays too. but im not sure on the condition of my 2nd battery. if its a bad battery would this cause the huge voltage drop?

and both batterys are grounded to frame, engineand body with 0 gauge oxygen free cables.and batterys are mounted behind the front seats in cab. but i did notice that the ground cable goin from motor to body ripped out. but i think its grounded somewere else. but ill look tomarrow. finally found post i posted a while back. but im askig again because in a few weeks im goin to tear the truck aparrt box frame, cage, and other stuff.

being it's a relay isolator, it's more than likely a hurt battery bringing the paralleled system down... you can verify that by checking voltage output on the relay output paralleled, and not paralleled..

disconnect the batteries and carbon pile load test em, or better yet, check each cell with a hydrometer or refractometer.. any batteries that are going to be in parallel should both be changed at the same time.. an older battery will ruin the newer one..

ya i plan on puting 2 new batterys when i get the truck back together. so hopefully thats the case, cuz the 2nd battery is definetly no good at all. but would that be causing the coil to keep blowing?
