Still the brake problems

Alright guys, put the new 496 in with a bigger cam, had crappy brakes, so converted to hydroboost, new master cyl and ps pump. Then I had to put new front calipers on the truck cause of a snapped bleeder.

Anyway, got the system installed, bled the brakes, bled the hydroboost to the best of my ability, and the brake pedal is still hard. Like real friggin hard, making my knee hurt pushin on the pedal to make the truck stop. It is real high and real hard.....that sounds so wrong.

Turning the steering wheel also seems to be difficult, kind of jerky feeling if I have my foot on the brakes, do y'all think if I did the PS pump mods it would improve my brakes?
 
You need to fix the problem before trying anymore mods, should not be that hard or jerky. I just installed HBoost in mine and it was a bugger to bleed the system. I had to crack fittings at every spot to get the PS system bleed, the brake side was no big deal.

The brakes are almost too much, especially up here in the snow/ice. They are wicked on dry pavement though, cant wait to try them when towing.
 
Any ideas to bleed em? I mean I dont get any bubbles/foam in the ps pump when I drive it around the block a couple times.
 
Just start cracking fittings on the pressure side one at a time, closest to the pump and move along through the system. I found it to work well. I could not get it to bleed any other way.
 
Truck running, crack the lines, do I turn the wheel or push the brakes or anything while its cracked?
 
I just cracked the line, let some fluid flow out for 5-8 seconds then tighten up and go to the next fitting. Be sure to keep the PS fluid topped up. I found the first spot took some time for it to push fluid out (i dont remember if i turned the wheel at this time, may have).

I did not touch the brakes until the PS was bleed and working properly. After the PS was working somewhat i jacked up the front end of the truck and turn the wheel back and forth to be sure to purge any air out of the system. Once the PS system is working and bleed, then move on to the brake system.
 
Something I just remembered, when I installed it, the o-rings on the lines looked worn, not torn or anything, just like they had been on the truck for 20 years. Anyway, I couldnt find a part number for new ones, the lines are in good shape however, so I reused the o-rings, Im starting to wonder if one of them is sucking air in causing a constant need to bleed situation. It isnt leaking any fluid from anywhere, I wonder if its possible to suck air but not leak?
 
Possible since air molecules are smaller than liquid but the pressure is higher than any suction created.
 
that would be my thinking too....on yours did you replace any of your o-rings, if so do you happen to have the p/n handy?
 
Ok, I cracked the lines today, steering feels alot better still a jerk here or there, but 20x better than it was. Probably still a little air in it, but the smoke from PS fluid on the headers made me shut it off. Didnt have a chance to test the brakes though, had a couple things rigged onto the truck hangin down so I couldnt drive anywhere, but steering is alot better, thanks man, if you are ever in Charlotte Ill buy you a beer.
 
No problem. I did not replace any o-rings so no help there. I fought with mine out in the cold for a few days so happy to save you any grief if possible.
