Anyone build any bumpers with stoage boxes incorporated? I wanna keep my chains and clevises out of the cabin so designed something like this wil a spare tire carrier and will hold 2 jerry cans. Anyone else done something similar?

there was a guy on ebay a while back wiht a burb, and the recovery chains were stored and attached in compartments in teh corners of the bumper. Kinda creative, they were attached inside....so you would just pull it out and use it, you wouldnt; have to attach the other end to a recovery point. Kinda limits the functino a little, but yah....

I had one made in Salt Lake City back in the early 80's. It worked great, but the chains made a LOT of noise going over big bumps. The chain would jump up and then slam down on the bottom of the bumper.

One real problem is the shape of the K5 tailgate. If you note, when the tailgate is lowered, the bottom slopes down. This creates an issue when you try to make the bumper stick out far enough to have a decent size opening for the storage box. You have to lower the bumper far enough that it doesn't interfere with the tailgate when it's down. :(

I like your rear bumper, minus the tire carrier(I have another idea). I may be giving you guys a call in the near future.
