I'm soon going to be able to get a drive shaft for the front. WOO HOO! I found this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...item=300172523776&_trksid=p3984.cWAT.m240.lVI

I could have this lengthened if need be. The seller said the round flange will bolt right up to my 241 TC. Since this is out of a 1 ton, did they come from the factory with 1350 u joints? Or could I just have my factory shaft lengthened and get 1350's for it? Thoughts?

I don't think they came with 1350's in the front shaft. Dana 60 is def. 1310 Pretty sure the CV is not 1350, probably 1310 also or maybe that s44 thingamawidgit.

Its not a 1350. and the CV is a a GM 3R series CV joint. GM f*cked up with its driveshafts. The 1ton driveshafts arn't any better than a 1/2 ton when talkin joints

Wow.So the joints on my stock shaft is just as strong as this one? Is there a way I can get 1350 joints for mine? I'd really like to try and find someone to make a square shaft for me and if I could use my existing joints that would save a butt load of money. :D

Get a front shaft out of a 99-02 Ford StupiDuty. They have 1350 CVs and 1350 at the axle. Get ahold of Jess at High Angle and get the flange, IIRC they are around $100.

Great, thanks! I e-mailed HAD last week but haven't heard anything back but considering it's the holidays I figured no one would be in till sometime next week. I think I'll give them a call and get a price. I'm sure I'll have to have it lengthened but I can get my d-shaft shop here to do it. Maybe I won't get raped near as bad on this one as I did my rear shaft. :doah:

charlie, you sure a 1350 cv will be enough for your truck? you know ive got 1410s and i know they hit just a hair under 40* max operating angle...im sure you could have one made that was "ground out" or whatever, but we both know that will be money.

Nope, not at all sure. That's why I'm trying to do my homework on this before I go shelling out money for a shaft. I learned my lesson with the rear shaft. :doah: I'm still debating whether or not to put zero rates up front and move my axle forward some also and I know I need to do that before I get my front shaft. You reckon a conversion joint would handle the angle up front? I'm almost scared to death to call Jess at HAD to get a price on a 1410 CV. I sure am glad tax season and bonus time are just around the corner.

I was told by someone I know that owns a 4wheel shop and is a very talented fabricator that 1410s are only benifitial for the extra clearence. His logic was that since the caps are the same size, you're spreading the load across a longer distance and deflection is more prominant. Since ears and caps are usually the root cause of a failure. 1410s aren't worth is and if you need bigger than 1350 than go 1480 where the caps are bigger. Take it for what its worth... Anyone got any comments on this theory

1350 has less working angle than 1310 and 1410. so you will actualy loos out with the swap. i saw this in a chart onetime. but didnt save it.

Interesting. What are y'alls thoughts on a dual CV shaft for extreme angle? All this talk about drive shafts is starting to fry my brain. :haha: It would be too simple to have one "on the shelf" for my app. Oh well, wishful thinking I reckon. :doah:
