I heard a rumor somewhere that I might be able to find a 14B-ff with a Detroit and 4.56's on a stock truck. Can anyone tell me what truck came with these and maybe some identifying marks. Thanks /forums/images/graemlins/ears.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

It would have to be a CUCV truck because I don't think civilian trucks ever came with detroits. 4.56 geared 14bolts are somewhat common and the gov-lok isn't bad for moderate stuff as long as it isn't worn out. I would take either one.

Mine is from a CUCV, and I think that is the only place to find a "stock" Detroit in a C14FF. Gov locks are found in "stock" civi GM trucks. These are also called G80s and can be found listed as such on a build sheet. The C14FF is the only older axle I would trust a G80 in. I have one in my new 11.5" ring gear AM axle in my 2500 HD...

The CUCV trucks are the only versions that I have ever found that came with a D/L , but GM does list a RPO code "G86" as a "NoSpin" option. I found this code in an old GM parts book that was for the C-40 and up applications so I don't know if it applies to the 30 series trucks on down or not. HTH , Tom
