Ok i got a 83 GMC 3/4 ton that used to have a 6.2 diesel in it. It now has a 350. I've never seen this before but the bumpstop on the passenger side come off the frame on a bracket and looks like it keeps the axle from coming up by hitting the pumpkin.

Kinda hard to explain. Anyone elses truck like this?

Every one i've ever seen has had the bumpstops just mounted to the bottom of the frame. Is this just a 3/4 ton 6.2 thing?? I figure maybe for the extra weight in the front??

thanks. Just curious. Made it harder to get the friggen starter wires off.

EDIT: Oh and i forgot to mention it has the regular bumpstop on the frame also so the big one acts as a third??

IIRC, that was only used on the diesels.

Not required, but my setup bottoms out on the primary leaf spring bumpstop (as opposed to the secondary ones further back) and I wonder if the ride wouldn't be smoother with another bumpstop in there. I believe when I got the diesel frame there was one, but I didn't transfer it over to my current.

Stupid setup IMO, there should be enough travel to not bottom out in the first place, but apparently GM decided to go with bumpstops instead.

My 85 Blazer with a 6.2 has the same thing made it hard to get headers to fit so I just removed it....When I first started I called Summit asking why it was happening the guy said he had heard of this happening alot on diesel to gas swaps and to just remove it so thats what i did.
