stock factory early 80s 5.7L diesel th350 torque converter- how do i find out stall speed of one of these compared to gas engine one ? i have been told they have a different stall speed than gas engine ones, how much of a difference ? or is that even the difference at all ? what would happen if i put a diesel one behind a gas 5.7L ?

thanks for any links, or anything

I don't have the numbers on that one but I would think the diesel s both have the same and the 6.2 has a stall of 900-1200
The gas ones are 1350-1600
If you put the diesel TC on a gas engine you will have less slip on launching, if the engine is healthy enough with torque low in the RPM range you should get a better launch.
If not you might bog the engine down.

interesting

ok then the diesel oen will work in the trans am for now, cool, damn now i gotta swap in another damn engine in a coupel days,

sigh

all these engine swaps, and one in a 98 park avenue to start in on today,
