I've been looking all over for a driveshaft. I need a stock K5 driveshaft for a SM465/NP205 combo. My trans and tcase are out 78 (according to the serial number. What is the length of the rear driveshaft. I've got 6 wks to find one, and If I cant I want to be able to have one made. So if someone could help me out I would appreciate it. Ive looked all through the searches on here all I found is a 465/205 long bed reg cab pick up has a 69 inch shaft.

Coincidently, I just ordered a driveshaft today...

I have a fixed yoke at the 205 so it was an easy measurement: center of ujoint cap at the axle yoke to center of ujoint cap at transfer case as it sits on level ground (64.25" in my case...) Having mine made with spicer 1350 components and the longest 16 splineX1.5" diameter slip joint they make for the shaft ($325 for reference)

Not sure how to measure shaft length if you have a slip yoke in the transfer case.

Nope K30 (C&C frame with a box on it and zero rates moving rear axle forward 1.5")... 64.25" would be one heck of a long driveshaft on a K5!

I just saw your other thread and you have the same set up as I do just shorter. I'd guess that a new shaft built for your application would be similar in set up but a little cheaper due to shorter length and less tubing needed.

i've got a stock rear shaft out of a 77 K5 with a SM465 and 205... pm if interested...

You'll have to run trick joints at the rear axle (1350 yoke on 14 bolt FF) unless you change out the drive shaft joint with a stock K5 driveshaft.

a lot cheaper than a new driveshaft is how I'm seeing and I'm just trying to get it rolling before I go to basic. $35 shipped to my casa........ not to bad, yes they can be bought cheaper but now I can change the joint out on the shaft paul is letting me buy and bolt it in...... and i now have a two wheel drive. Its a great day to be an amercian.
