Hello fellow Blazer owners.

I own a 71 Blazer 4x4. It has a 6” inch left. All front end brand new components. My steering is too loose and I would like to find the correct gear box or upgrade steering kit upgrade. I have heard good and bad reviews for red head gear boxes, same for blue head and PSC. What is the best route to get a nice and tight steering? Thank you

Before you assume everything in the front is good, let’s review some things

The springs may not be tight at the frame points or the axle
Bushings may be worn
Ball joints may be worn or improperly installed
Misaligned
Bad tie rod or drag link ends
Bad rag joint
Broken, cracked or loose frame

And also plausible wear in the box

Carefully revisit all those before you condemn the box

I went through some of those other providers of steering boxes before rebuilding my own with better luck

Also we need to define loose. By loose do you mean The wheel moves several inches before the truck starts to turn? or constantly adjusting to keep truck straight ?
6" lift can change the caster for the worst. Not enough + caster can steering very squirrely .

Don't guess and don't make any assumptions. Even a brand-new part can be faulty or improperly installed. Get underneath while someone else steers it and find out what's loose. Put prybars on things like ball joints and TREs.
