gas or diesel? A friend had a 12 valve truck that worked suprisingly well on 38inch swampers and 3.50 gears.

Gas... he noticed a huge decrease in power when he had his 35s now he says it takes him a looong time to get up to speed no matter how hard he hits the gas.

Put it in low range and leave it there. Should be just about right. Off road? Dont' go there any more, or change gears, 5.38's or 6.17"s will do the job...

1500 1/2 ton? Or 2500 3/4 ton? The lowest gears ratio available for the factory 1/2 ton 9.25" rear is 4.56.
if its a 2500, it would have a alot more gearing choices. I would suggest something in the 5.13-5.38 ratio.

How long will it last? The trans won't like that for too long. It will run hotter than it should, ruin the fluid, burn up the clutches and converter.

This idiot guy i work with has a k5 with 3.73's and 42" iroks, He says the motor needs a rebuild because its tired......:doah:
