For a stock height '83 Jimmy, used on sand dunes, how would you rate the difference between a middle-range aftermarket shock (say, Rancho5000) and the OEM "heavy duty" shocks?

Will be changing all 6 soon.

Not sure about the HD but the Rancho 5000's my buddy had were real rough. Dont know what to tell u. I am in the market for shocks myself. I want something with a lot of travel.

Any comments?

I've got to decide - OEM shocks available in country, aftermarket ones I need to ship from the USA.

Well, that's a wrinkle, but I'd consider dropping the dual shocks up front and going to one good one -- search on this, lots of people talk about it.
