Thanks for all the great info on the diesels. my next question is how to tell what size suspension lift you have. when I bought my k5 it already had the lift but i have know idea how tall it is. I am trying to figure out what all I need to do to get 40"s underneath it with decent wheel travel and without fender trimming.

oh geepers,

THATS a TON of suspension and possibly body lift to make 40's work without trimming.
and i know everyone on the board will say, chop away but i would halfto say at least a 8 inch and you will probably still rub.

8" suspension, 3" body, and skinny 40's on skinny rims. If you bumped the suspension up to 10" you could probably clear any 40" you wanted. I have about 9" of lift and can make my 35x16 boggers on 14" wide rims hit my fenders no problem.
