While taking off my throttle body on my 87 k5 I noticed the intake was aluminum, Ok Ive been outa the loop for a while on GM. Is this intake fine or should I keep thinking about the 3704 performer ? I just missed one on ebay and may buy a new one for 250.00 is it really worth it?
This is gonna be a long build 99% cosmetics the drive train is ok except for 1/2 ton stock. I won't be off road much, shes old and tired so other than light mods it will remain fairly stock, but every nut and bolt will be touched, and flat so. Fla. isnt the place for anything but sand and a little mud. Im building it mainly for a clean good lookin tribute to older K5's. "Just because" I will be starting a build thread soon I've been at this one for 6 months and look for another 8 months before its on the road....can't wait

Don't know about that manifold, but you can use any 4bbl manifold with an adapter

really expands your options

If you are going to keep the stock throttle body just use the stock manifold. It flows plenty for a stock TB. If you are doing a rebuild. I would use the 250 saved to do some mild porting on the heads and Gasket match the heads and intake. Fairly cheap way to pick up 15-20 hp

Thanks, I never know when to quit so I might do the 4bbl intake w/ adpt. sounds like a plan.

If you go with the 4 barrel carb manifold be sure that you can bolt all the TBI stuff to it like EGR, TV cable linkage, coil, ect. If the TV cable linkage is off you may fry your trans.
If you are staying mostly stock there is no reason to get a 4 barrel manifold. You will gain nothing by it.

I dont recomed running an adaptor, they greatly reduce intake velocity and actually would counter the gains you'd see from a performance manifold. I say spring for the TBI manifold, you should see the truck slighly more peppy and better throttle responce.
