I did a search and could not find anything of this. Does anybody have the stock rear wind wing that attaches to shell over the back window. I am looking for measurements on where to mount it in the proper location. Thanks in advance for your help. :D

Hmm, at some point I can probably measure mine, but not sure what kind of datum to use since the whole surface is sloped. :(

You are probably actually right...as I recall the mounting "feet" for the spoiler are curved to match the slope of the top, line it up left/right, make sure the feet match the contour of the top, and go for it.

You'll want "well nuts" to secure the spoiler to the topper. The bolts do not go all the way through the top.

From mounting foot to mounting foot is 21 1/8" (on center)

Center foot is in middle of hardtop

Mounting holes that are furthest to the rear are about 1/2" from the start of the curve.

The front holes are about 1 1/2" in front of those, or 2" from the start of the curve.

As mentioned, the feet are sloped and will not sit flush until you're fairly close.

Thanks for the responses guys. I will have to find out what "well nuts" are, then give it a try.

Something along these lines:

My well stocked local hardware place had them. I THINK mine have brass inserts, I'd not use aluminum inserts as the bolts aren't aluminum and would likely corrode.

You want the holes sealed or you'll hasten the rotting of the internal metal frame of the topper.

Well-nuts blow. Really. Try and find someone wiht a threadsert kit, and seal it with silicon. They are way stronger. They are basically pop rivets with threads down the middle. Just don't get aluminum ones.

Mine have held up for 7 or so years, with plenty of brush trying to pull it off. I'm much more concerned with the spoiler bending than the well nuts popping out, which they never have.

Not sure why they'd suck, they aren't exposed to sunlight so the rubber isn't being subjected to anything that's going to weaken it.

Idano, i just have had nothign but bad luck with them. I had them in teh roof of the 94 blazer for the ski rack. I ended up changing to some type of gromets with expansion type nuts in them, sealed with RTV. Ended up being way better. But maybe the fiberglass is thicker than my sheetmetal was. My well-nuts always spun instead of expanding and holding, so i had to hold them with pliers and try to keep them from spinning, It was a PITA.

No, I had no problems like that. But the well nuts I got were a tight fit into the factory holes as well, so there was no spinning whatsoever when they were started.

I bet if the hole was big enough to allow them to spin, they would have been frustrating to install. Once they start to expand though, you should be set either way.

hey dyeager535 could you take a pic and post it so I can get an idea of how it is suppose to look and what type of screw the factory used.
Thanks

To be honest I hope someone else can help you, I can't really take any good photos without disassembling mine. Not to mention my text-only quality internet service where I am now. :(

Best bet IMO, is if you have wrecking yards nearby, check any K5 or Suburban. All aftermarket ones I've seen are adjustable in angle, all factory ones I've seen look identical and have no adjustment.

I thought most people hated these wings?

I didnt particularly like the looks of them but they do keep the back window aton cleaner also after putting mine on I never could smell exhaust with the back window open. Mine is long gone now though so I cant help other than agree the feet basicaly set themselves with the shape of the top. seams like when it wasnt right where it was supposed to be one of the feet was off the top slightly. Only thing I had to do was make sure it was centered left to right.

Hope these help.

When you get yours installed you can do mine ;):bow::bow:

I have one on my Burb. Dunno if it's the same as a blazer as far as mounting spot but I will take pics and measure if you want.

Thanks StevoandaRedK5. The pics help a lot. The one I picked up does have the adjustable feet. I don't know if it is factory or not but it is in mint condition, I'm just a little nervous about putting holes in my roof and not being sure if I will like it. :waytogo:

X2 on the holes but after all the dust I got on the trails out west I think it will be worth it.
