I just got a stock roll bar out of a 77 and it is really almost the same as a "light bar" that had a sticker that said "not intended for crash protection" I was wondering can a stock rollbar really hold up in a rollover?

I was in a yard year before last , and saw a red 70's K5 . It had been rolled badly , cab and bed tweaked to the side , top cracked , roll bar and bumpers bent to hell . Yet it appeared to be intact enough not to have crushed anyone , I could of sat in there ad I'm a SCH over 6 foot .
Of course I wasn't around for the rollover so I don't know what happened , but it had to of at least helped anyone in the backseat .
