I'm new here, and I searched the forums before I posted and didn't find what I was looking for. I'm getting ready to get a 4" lift and 35" tires for my Jimmy, but am not sure where to put the spare tire. Would a stock spare tire carrier/mount work for a oversized tire on the stock 15" wheel? Thanks in advance.

A 35 doesn't fit on the inside carrier unless you leave it deflated. Even then, opening and closing the tailgate is a real chore. :(

I think you can go up to a 33", but I know for sure a 35 will not fit. If you do manage to bolt it in, you'll never get te tailgate closed.

Have you looked at bumper racks or swing away racks?

I run a 33x12.50 on the inside carrier . The tire leans a bit since it hits the wheelwell .

A 35 should fit leaned over a little and aired down .

Sometimes you need to turn the rim around if the backspacing isn't good enough .

Beat me by like 3 seconds. :D

Well as of right now, I don't have a spare tire carrier at all, my spare is just laying back there. I've been looking at getting one, but now that I'm getting bigger tires, there's no point. I guess I'll have to wait until I can afford that steel bumper and swing away carrier. Thanks guys.

Hehe, no problem. I know how bad that ticks people off on forums. I've been a forum junkie for years, so I know all the rules/etiquette :)
