im putting a new engine (400hp 350)an tranny 700r4(yes i know its gonna die:D )in my 89 k5 and i dont want a stock converter, i found one on 700r4.com that is "HD" with a 1600 stall,i want close to stock stall speed but a little stronger.does anyone know what the stock stall speed is?:doah:

There were about 80 different converters for these trucks (no, I'm not kidding) and a more powerful engine will make the same converter stall higher.

That might have been for the one they tested, because I can assure you GM used so many converters there is no way they were all 1200. :)

hmm alright, i think the 1600 stall speed is looking good, i just dont want the sudden jerking of a high end torque converter, im guessing 1600 is too low for it to jerk at all. thanks guys!
