My 70 K5 box looked like a solid lump of tar when I took it off. I don't want to just clean it and reinstall if its going to gunk up my now shiney frame. I figure I have a few options, new, rebuilt, used, or possibly have mine rebuilt. Any ideas? I'm spending too much on this thing already so cost effective solutions are best. Running 33's and it won't be wheeled hard (it will be my daughter's truck). Is there some sort of seal kit for these? Thanks

4X4HIGH can rebuild it for you if that's the route you're considering.

He's down in Fremont, CA and has done a number of them in the past. He can also do the drilling/tapping for hydro assist if that's something you might eventually want.

Yep, just as Greg said i have rebuilt probably a dozen of these boxes and four of them just a couple weeks ago. If you're interested then PM me for details. Depending on how soon you want/need it done i might be able to pick it up from you since we go to Napa on occasion for dinner and you could meet up with me and I could grab it from you then. Like Greg said, if you ever plan on hydro assist steering in the future i can also drill and tap the box so that it's ready for you when you want to add it. In the mean time you would just install caps on the fittings. I have a local place here that i could get whatever fittings and caps you need.

scott,
what does the rebuild include? i may go this route as well, although i'm not sure what shipping would be from the east coast.
