The power steering pump pulley is not on the same plane as the crank and waterpump. Looks like there is a nut on the back of the power steering pump used as a spacer, but I am not sure if I remove that that it will even up on the angle plane?

Help.

Alternator - Water Pump - Crank are in line

I cannot find an exploded diagram to show if there is supposed to be a spacer back there or not. I am also not sure if the AC belt goes straight to the crankshaft innermost pulley or if it goes in the second groove of the power steering pump.

AC belt is the rear pulley on crank and power steering pump. The middle pulley on crank goes to the outer pulley of the power steering pump. wrong info.

edit Back crank pulley to back power steering pump pulley straight shot. The middle crank pulley to water pump inner pulley, to AC compressor and then to the outer pulley on power steering pump. Outer crank pulley to alternator to outer pulley water pump.

Something isn't jiving. Mine is like his setup

But the parts store has a 60 inch belt for the PS. The AC pulley aligns with the rear pulley on the crank and the rear pulley on the power steering. There is no way that AC pulley aligns with the middle pulley on the crank and the outside pulley on the PS pump.

The spacer nut was the problem...it didn't belong there. No I just gotta go get a belt a couple inches longer

That is how my old 1985 350 was set up. Then yours uses the back pulleys for AC, power steering. Does the front power steering and the back water pump and middle crank line up? Then it is used as the safety for both pumps. In that video he only has a single pulley on water pump.

Tighten the small ps pump belt b4 you tighten the ac comp belt

yeah that nut doesn't belong, am worried now about how many things the PO did to your truck

I got it all straightened out. All the belts are on and the new fan clutch. I may need to tighten the AC belt just a bit as is "bounces" in the middle too much when I turn the AC on.

Jeez I can't stay in the garage with that thing...the carbon monoxide is thick. Gonna have to get it out now and run it and get it real warm.

I'll know more when I can get it out in daylight. The harmonic balancer was a total surprise. I am glad that found out about the power steering pully though.
There is so little adjustment in the PS pump that the belt cant be more than 1/2 inch too big or maybe a 1/4. It's crazy. I got the 42" belt on, but I could have used a 42.25 or so

Yeah, I got the double groove pulley on the Water Pump and the 3 grooves in the crank. I can't imagine a small belt going direct to the PS pump from the crank. I can't imagine it tightening enough....but maybe because mine comes across the Water pump from that direct may be why the adjustment doesn't have much effect. Maybe if it came from the crank it would have more of an effect???

Looks like it although I have not been able to find a manual or diagram that shows the double belts on the water pump and power steering. It makes sense...you can lose a belt and both the water pump and the power steering still continue.

The AC belt will dance a pretty dance when the clutch engages. Long span is easy to amplify the vibration of the engine. AC is the hardest to keep adjusted due to the design.
