Stomp shear

We had a Grizzly for a little while. 16 ga stainless and carbon steel through it but not full width.

This is the model here. https://www.grizzly.com/products/Grizzly-52-Sheet-Metal-Shear/G5772 We didn't see being able to pay for an American one at the time. It worked but the fit and finish isn't as nice as the on above. We no longer have it, sold to an HVAC company.

I need to be around the $3k range. Found one on FB market place that I am looking at tomorrow. It is a Tennsmith 52a air operated.

We don't mess with stainless. The thickest I've cut with it is .080" thick aluminum. About the only steel we sheared would be 22ga paintlok.

Just bo8ght one. Will pick it up Monday. Hot rod shop bought out another shop and they do not need 2. Took a piece with me to try it. Had to adjust it to 24 gauge. Made a nice cut. Set the piece in and press the pedal.

Paid $3500 for it. That is 50% of new cost with tax and shipping.

good score . post up some pics when you get her home and setup .

I new these were USA made. "Tennsmith" spelled that way got me looking around. They are made 3 hours west of me in McMinnville, TN. I called to see what support was like. A lady answered the phone. Told me to call back with the S/N and they will give me the history. Same parts for decades. Turns out, they own Pextco which is the one Scott posted up. Bought them in 2011.

The lady on the phone asked what I paid for it. Told her. "Killer deal" was her response. They have 1 used one for $5k OTD.

Good score, that's a nice looking shear.

the rover tag machine i got from a member here years ago . they said the parts have NOT changed on them since new for over 98% of the required parts . and even tho my machine looked super old it was a late 80's to early 90's for the date i dont recall at this time .

i like the USA built stuff and support after the sale . . . and even to the 2nd - 3rd or 10th owner they still take care of us . :waytogo:
