I got a bad back...I need a stool that has great wheels for my garage / driveway for when I do brake work.
Nothing Horrible Freight has ever has good wheels.

What do you guys use...post up.

I have honestly found they just make it worse. I end up starting comfortable and then hunched over. I use a child's chair on a furniture dolly and I also have a round swivel chair with drawers under it. Both do the same thing.
I would need the hub three feet off the ground to do work in comfort.

My friend has one of these in Snap-On brand...has a gas strut to adjust the height...not cheap though..very comfortable...
I need a tall one, being 6'5" tall with long legs, his is maxed out in height where I'm most comfortable in it..

HF has some things with decent casters, their 1000 lb dolly for about $10 has decent casters,I have put a V8 on one and it rolled around ok--some things with cheap casters I have had,the rubber wheels go square on the bottom and they just want to skid instead of roll with a lot of weight though..
I bought better casters at Tractor Supply for a rolling seat I had, that had some goofy metal balls instead of wheels, but even with the added cost of new casters it was a lot cheaper than buying a big name brand seat..

How about this for a shop stool?

I saw the thread title and thought you were looking for something to make taking a dump easier! LOL! (Tell the truth, you knew this was coming, right?)

I have a bad back, my h.f. does me just fine. My back hurts whether I do anything or not, so...I just do it. And for the record, fork nike!

I ended up using a 5 gallon plastic Lowes bucket turned upside down. No casters to go bad...cost nothing...perfect height...

I’ve always just used the tire of whatever vehicle I’m working on as a seat. But the guys at work have snap on seats that come up and down with nice wheels. I just wouldn’t pay snap on prices. Which is why I just sit on the tire. Lol

They sell a "bucket seat" cushion to put on a 5 gallon pail ,makes it more comfy...
You can sit on a 5 gallon bucket OK--but its not a good idea to stand on one (or a milk crate!) to reach far into the engine bay, they love to slide on concrete or tar and your nuts end up getting crushed against the truck..:doah:

I have a bad neck and a bad back. They hurt whether I do anything or not, and my knees are sensitive to kneeling on them but that is the best way to do work at the ends of the axles. Recently, I finished changing out ball joints, tie rod end, and servicing the bearings on my K5. It would be much better if I had a lift and using a jack and stands, the wheels are too low to the ground to sit on a stool. It was more awkward and painful to sit on something than it is to kneel. Today, I am doing some work on my sand rail and it is close to the ground also.

This foam mat makes it as comfortable as possible to do that type of work: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01IJX5GUI/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It is very thick, supports my weight, and stays somewhat cool in the sun. The cheap foam mats don't give the support and cushion needed.

I have a few of those-found then at a flea market new for $2 each..guy had stacks of then in his mini-van!..

My knees are junk too now,I cant kneel on anything harder than soft grass without agony in less than a minute...then I need to pull myself up by grabbing onto something,if I try standing up without being able to help with my arms ,my knees feel like they are seized up and crack & pop ..I need to sit whenever possible and bending over under a hood kills my back in a few minutes...makes doing repairs a miserable chore that takes a long time to recover from..

Sucks to get old!..

Tennis elbow is my demise right now at 49.

I had TE in my right elbow for over 20 years. Then 2 years ago I tore my left rotator cuff at work and got surgery on it, twice. At the same when I went back to work I developed issues with my right thumb and had surgery on that, too.

Nowadays the TE is non-existent in the right arm. It's unbearable in the left arm now. Bad enough I can't pick it up or bend it.
