Ok i'm tryin to take off my shifter to install this new high performance shift knob 
, and i cant get the dang thing off! I got the boot off and loosend the retainer nut and couldn't twist/pull off the shifter. It's a 99 silverado with the factory shifter(nv3500), the manual just says to loosen the retainer nut and twist off the shifter, and i'm gettin my a$$ kicked!
Soo i guess what i'm askin is any tips or pointers on pullin this dang thing off without using channel locks on the base to twist???
