Scored a set of Flowmaster 40s off of a dude for $20 to replace the stock mufflers I've been using as skid plated for the past couple of years (which now sound goofy because of all the holes in them). Problem is they were welded to pipe at both ends. I used a cutoff wheel and sliced the weld off behind the joint which has left me with 2" if pipe remaining inside the inlets and outlets. I've got a couple of ideas on how to get at this but i'm just wondering if anyone has figured this out already without bending/twisting/mangling/chopping...............

Should be able to use a grinder with cutoff wheel to make 3-4 cuts around the pipe to remove anything stuck inside...after you cut the welded part

cutting tourch to lightly heatup and blow out the inner pipe. do it in a stright line. then take a screw driver to pop them loose and pull out with pair of plyers.

workes every time for me. old school trick i was showed 1 time. :thumb:

Since me no gots a torch, It looks llike it'll be the wheel. This is what I was imagining. Was kinda hoping for the existance of some sort of puller but oh well, at least i got grinder skills :D.

If your careful with a sawsall, you can slice the inner pipe only, and then use a screwdriver to cave it inward,so you can pry it out of the muffler without damaging the inlet and outlet pipes..you wont even have to saw all the way thru the inner pipe most likely, just enough to weaken it so it'll crush inwards when you pry them apart with the screwdriver..I've done this to many mufflers using torches or a sawsall...if I get one that looks like I'll end up wrecking the muffler taking it out,I just buy an exhaust adapter to slide in or over the outlet and weld or braze all of them together instead of trashing the muffler...
