I know I have see n people make their own bed boxes bot as far as finding one prefabed where can I find a steel box? and not 300$ diamond plate.

Watch the sales, or watch Craigslist or your local newspaper.

I bought, new, a Delta steel box for my CUCV Blazer, cost me maybe $150.

Also got a truck bed box, aluminum diamond plate, from Kragen (Schuck's, Checker, Advance) for $129 on special.

And then got a big honkin (though rusty) Delta box from Craigslist for free, cost me about fifty bucks to strip and repaint it, replace one of the struts, etc. That one's on my cargo trailer.

I know a carpenter who stores his expensive tools in an old upright freezer he got for zip at the landfill..he gutted the motor and compressor, and just mig welded a hasp on it!..it happened to fit perfect crossways in his truck bed!..

Kragen, Auto Zone usually have some for $100-$200 on sale. Other than that check local ads and boneyards.
