Straight piped 6.2

how is your piping routed? dual straight to the back? i have been thinking about doing this to mine as well, but i was worried about the droning since my truck is gutted.

DOes it really? I am going to change mine out soon and I contemplated that. how loud is it? Get us some sound Bytes.

its LOUD... although my truck is completely gutted and i have no top on atm. the PO had dual exhausts put on it... one pipe from each side of the engine, and i just saw zawed out the mufflers and i will be gettting some cheap autozone exhaust pipeing and running that to some big chrome tips.

1. is it loud enough to turn peoples heads?:pimp:
2. is it loud enough to turn cops head? (and make them give you a ticket)
3. is it loud all the time (like at idle) or just when you get on it?

How do you tell getting on a 6.2 from idle? :eek1:

actually at idle and at high speeds in OD (low rpm) its not bad... any onther time it is LOUD. have had a few cops roll by and not even turn thier heads... but it will definitively get your attention.

Yeah i had a straight piped 6.2 also, although mine was turbo charged. At idle its the same old banging clanging deisel, but when you get it goin boy she sounds nice. Mine wasnt dualed just one pipe off the turbo. But it was 3 1/2 or 4. Nice tip on it so it would cackle really good. Oh well a 406 is going in it I havnt decided on mufflers yet but it will be dualed and it WILL BE LOUD

depends how much pipe u leave i guess. i cut most of the exhaust off my 6.2 awhile back and it was unbearable on the highway. around town cops would pull me over if i didnt let off the gas for sure. i put mufflers on because i thought it would still be too loud straight piped to the back

ive got duals on on my 6.2 with glass packs and it actually sounds really good, definitely turns peoples heads when you get on it, as well and shoot out clouds of smoke :)

Well what is the consensus. I want to run them all the way to the back when I upgrade but should I Glass Pack it, Magna flow or straight pipe it. It is really Quiet with regular mufflers on her now. I dont mind a little noise but still want the Wife to get into it.

Try a set of Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. They've got a straight through type of design which wouldn't restrict the exhaust flow any... They sound real good on gasoline engines, very deep and throaty, should sound pretty good on a diesel too.

My buddy had a turbo 6.2 with a straight pipe off the turbo that dumped under the cab, and it sounded like a small block gas engine with a good muffler on it :D

if i were you i would chop out the mufflers and see what you think... then you can either weld in a pipe to replace the mufflers or if its too loud you can go ahead and put another muffler on there.

Yah. that will work. I can run the pipes all the way to the back and ad a muffler if it is to loud after.
