Straight pipes and valves

I ran a stack on many of my garden tractors, and used a custom made one on my first go-kart I made by brazing a pipe nipple to a air cooled VW tail pipe (the chrome tip whistle things!) ..more than once I got a golden shower from them after I fired them up after a rain, when I'd forgotten to cover the stack with a can or something!..
I didn't know about those "flappers" farm tractor had till after I saw one of them one day on an old IHC !..

I remember being at New England Dragway back in the late 70's,in the pits, back when you could buy a pit pass--one guys rail dragster had just made a run and he'd put the rubber balls in the pipes ---a few minutes later he started it up ,forgot they were there, and they shot up about 50 feet in the air,a few spectators not far away got bonked on the head by a few of them,it was hilarious!...another time I was there on a Wednesday night race that featured some "Funny Cars",one was a rocket powered car that used hydrogen peroxide as fuel--when it took off from the starting line, people told several times to back away from the fence and didn't listen, went home with bright green hair, after they got douched with excess hydrogen peroxie expelled from the rocket engine!...:D
