I went and picked up a '78 Blazer topper from someone who gave it to me for free. I wanted it for my '90 because it has slider rear windows. So I took my topper off and drove over there to get it. Turns out that the placement of the pin in the rear bed rails is different, and that on the older truck it is further back. So, this top won't fit my truck unless I drill out the hole. That's no big deal, but it's odd.

Actually, I'm not going to keep the hard top itself, just transfer over the windows because my topper is in good shape and the new one isn't.

Surprised you didn't already know that. It's been talked about on here before. At any rate, a free topper with sliders is always good for the sliders themselves. :thumb:

Why wouldn't they just remove the pins instead of drilling holes? Much easier.

Mine were little balls of rust. Removed them the first time I took the top off. Haven't needed them since. Actually find it easier to remove/replace the top without them cause I can slide the top off the back on the bedrails.

are the pins adjustable? I put a different top on, not sure of the year, but it fits OK. The cab gasket isn't as "squished" as it used to be. Fits fine, but I wonder if I can move the pins 1/8-1/4" forward.

or do without all together sounds fine too :)

You'd be surprised at how little I know... :wink1:

No, the pins aren't adjustable in location. Been thinking about removing mine for the very reason you describe. But, it doesn't rain much here and I don't have any leaks, so I'm not sure I'll bother just yet.
