So I have my wife's old 2003 Honda civic lx with the 1.7 L and it had 245k miles on original everything so I figured before I lost a timing belt I should do the whole thing.
I changed belts, tensioners, water pump, cam and crank seals, cam position sensor (had a code) valve cover seals, adjusted the valves, and changed spark plugs.
Put a new radiator because the tank had a little crack and wouldn't show any leaks but in a few weeks it would overheat and finally I saw the steam.
Anyway all went well, ran great, smogged no problem then couple of weeks later it died and wouldn't start.
Code Crank position sensor.
I let it sit a couple of months till I had time when it wasn't raining and got it changed and it still didn't start.
It was smelling like flooding so I just gave up and left it.
2 months later I got tired of looking at it and decided I am getting to the bottom of it.
Thought maybe the timing belt skipped or something out of sync.
So I pulled the spark plugs and performed a compression test and got 190psi on the low end and 210psi on the high end.
But looking at the plugs they were rusted and had rusty scales on them.
Cleaned them up and tried again and it tried to start.
Put new plugs and now it runs fine.
Theory when it wasn't starting the injectors were still spraying and washed the oil from the cylinders and it sat so it rsuted, by the time I fixed the sensor the spark couldn't jump the rust.
Any thoughts?

. If it run's now I wouldn't think twice about it.
