the wipers on my 94 burb are starting to drive me crazy. since i bought this truck, about 3 months ago, the wipers started acting a little funny at times. but it keeps getting worse, and now its at a point that i have to do something about it. first they would start by not working in any setting but high, sometimes they would be on with no way to turn the off short of turning the truck off, and now sometimes they dont work at all. its getting really annoying driving home in the rain with no wipers. any insight into this?

The circuit board that controls the wipers can go bad sometimes. I'm not sure if what you're describing is a symptom of a bad board, but it sounds plausible. It's like a $30 part, and to get to it, you unplug the harness to the wiper motor, unscrew the cover, and replace it. I've done it twice, one time taking cover in a car wash during a rainstorm so I could make it back to the house without dying :rotfl:

sweet. is that inside the wiper motor?
This is what you need.
Wiper pulse board. Whenever I replace one I always put some silicone around the inside edges of the cover to keep water out.

and buy a bottle of rain-x. If you've never used it you will thank me.

I would do as suggested above, but I have had good luck repairing (soldering) the cracks on the board.

ive used it before, its not that impressive to me. it seems like it only lasts a week, then you have to reapply it. but, if you were the kind of person that kept up on stuff like that, it would be great. me, im one of those people that washes their car once every 5 years.

Get the rain-X windshield wiper fluid.

There used to be a recall about this. Not sure if it's still in effect or if yours falls under the limits of it or not though.

Like 10 years...when I was young, dumb, and not aware of many easy jobs I could do myself...I paid a couple hundred for a dealership to fix this very thing. A year later I was shown how easy it was...

Really? I put some on my windshield like a year ago and it still works great. You clean your windshield thoroughly before you applied it?

I am much to lazy for that, it took me months as it was to replace the damn thing... I got caught in many a rainstorm having to get out and smack the thing to get it to work...

The more time you spend applying, the longer it lasts. If you "polish" it into the glass in a 2x2" section at a time or something, when the glass is VERY clean, it will last a long time, months if not a year.

If you spray it on and wipe it off like you are cleaning the windshield, it will last about 10 min.
