So I have a 67 C30 cab and chassis(its about 14ft from the cab to the end of the frame) its rust free but has minor body damage and cab roof light humps. ALso I think I have a guy talked into selling me a running cadillac with a 500 and TH400 real cheap if not trade work.

The plan. swap in caddy 500 and trans. Shorten the frame (maybe 4.5-5') shorten the flat bed and build wooden steak sides. Use a 15 gal beer keg I have for a gas tank. Drop it to the ground, some big ole stacks 4" with BBQ black paint. Pound out as much body damage as I can, paint it satin black with some sort of shop logo on the door. Swap on some non split rims painted gloss red. Maybe a little von dutch style pinstripes. Inside some quirky stuff like maybe a tikki head, or a dash swap with some sort of older car. A mexican blanket thrown over the seat and be done with it.

I would call it rat rod "style" and Im sure alot of people will call it a rat rod. Some guys dont like to use the term rat rod as much so lets just leave it at that.

Its either this plan OR it will sit out there and rot or get parts robbed off it. What ya guys think? Ill probably do it either way I think it would be a fun little head turner to go on parts/beer runs or whatever.

I would want to keep it CHEAP for the most part. I also belive this is the best route to go with on this truck for what it is.

Sounds like fun... I have a Caddy 500 in my tow rig project. I also converted to 4wd and added twin turbos and double t-cases...

Sounds like a fun, quick, cheap project. Get it done and don't let it rot into nothing.:shame:

Caddy 500 + lightweight bed = lots of tire smoke.:thumb:

Plans have changed. See last year or mabe 2 years my neighbor said come get this truck out of my yard and you can have it. So of course I jumped all over that I was busy at the time and I never realy looked the truck over very well. I have had 71 or 72 with cab lights and there was bumps in the cab to mount the lights on. I ASSUMED this 67 would have those as well, but come to find out they didnt start the cab light humps till 69 or 70. Well I went out and looked it over pretty well and heres what I found.

This truck is in MUCH better shape than i thought and it does NOT have the humps in the cab just some small holes to weld up.

So the search is on for a 2wd SWB 1/2t frame and a stepside bed I will do a much nicer job on this truck and build myself a lil hot rod truck I have always wanted.

OH by the way DONATIONS are welcomed:haha:

The rust on the floor is MINIMAL surface rust. I did use a magnet and couldnt find any bondo. its mostly dents and dings and welding up some holes in the roof and doors. I am actualy very exited this truck is in SUPER GOOD CONDITION at least for a utah farm truck. Also talked to my neighbor some more his dad bought this truck new in 68 the miles showing are original (havent gone back to see how many miles are on it)about 10 years ago the swaped in a v8 and th400 and painted it with a single coat of non automotive paint and they didnt do any body work first. It has spent its whole life hauling hay and things around their farm. Rarely seeing pavement or traveling off the property.

Enough novel heres some more pics.

worst dent

Aquired some goodies, 600 bones got me a SWB 2WD frame. Sand blasted and painted ready to be put back together. Its in realy good shape. As well as (most) everything to make a rolling chassis. Also a SWB stepside bed, its not the best condition but for what a guy finds around my area its pretty good.
