I ripped the carpet out of my blazer last weekend and of course the floor boards are rusted through. Actuality it really wasn't as bad as i expected, but still not good. Well i was planning on just cutting chunks of metal out of a 91 chevy parts truck but to day I had an interesting thought. We have some old faded/scratched street signs at work that are in the trash pile, some are fairley large. Anyone ever used signs as patches? What quality metal is it? its pretty think and seems to heavy to be aluminium. Anyone ever done this?

I know a guy that fixed all his mud trucks like this. He is definitely hillbilly, but wouldn't do it if he didnt like the results. He had a no passing sign for the passenger floor on his s10, it dint feel flimsy standing on it:dunno:

Never thought of just welding them in there. I planed on striping them down. Might look kinda cool n hillbilly kind of way(which i dont mind) Im not planning on perfection; just want to stop thr rust and repair the holes it left. Then i plann of doing bed linner on the floors and sides, maybe the inside of the topper too?

He was just keeping mud,snow,water....whatever was flying from hitting the riders. I don't know about a "clean repair"

Ill grab one from the shop tomorrow and see if i can weld a couple nice beeds on it. If it turns out good i might try it on the floor. It will probably be a few days but ill post some pictures when i do it. Also is there any place to get the corner piece behind the drivers seat on the floor. I found the floor its self at lmc but it doesnt go back that far

I used the sheets of metal that you can get at Lowes for some patching. Inexpensive, easy to bend cut with tin snips. I didn't have a welder so I cut and riveted it in with a coating of silicone. Doesn't rust, and seems to work well enough.

The only street signs I ever uhhh... Found... Were made of aluminum....
