anyone bought a door striker lately?

I probably have a decent one somewhere around the Lab from an older vehicle... Mutt needs one bad, another is a bit worn too..

can't say I've ever bought one... is this an LMC? call my Napa maybe?

Dorman / HELP makes them....parts stores should be able to get them or even have them on the rack maybe..

Kert at DIY4x makes them for his tube door kits. I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to make them for a normal door

You mean

or are you talking about the metal latch that goes onto them?

The ones that Kert makes have a square milled into the head so you dont have to use an allen key

hmmm, just noticed those are allen.. stock is torx... no big... ordered a pair, be here in the morn..

that's the puppy.. thanks for the research.. ;)

Naw, I just replaced mine recently is all. The plastic fibblies were shot, and with the new ones adjusted carefully, the doors actually close solidly and straight :haha:

yeah, I finally adjusted my door gaps over the weekend and noticed the drivers one is about 1/2 the diameter it should be... :haha:

Sounds like you got it figured out.

All the parts stores carry them.

I ordered bushings/strikers for all my burb doors from rock auto. Had done the 94 style door bushings, thought these would be easy enough. WRONG.

Going to a body shop eventually to get the rest done.

The rear doors are captured nut plates, so the nut won't fall when the striker is unscrewed.

The front is NOT, but if its the same as the suburban, the trim panel on the pillar comes off to reveal an access hole.

Kert just put a picture of his pins up on facebook the other day so I guess he plans on selling them soon?

You can get a stainless version from either ARP or Totally Stainless..... IIRC

Just saw a promo for it in one of the car mags, but can't remember which one.

I just wrapped some duct tape around mine. It took about 4 wraps, quiets the door and keeps it aligned for about 2 years before I need to re tape it.

Before i realized you could swap the strikers, most parts stores sell tailgate striker bushings. I would cut one open, wrap around striker, and then tape or glue back together. Kept things quiet for a year or 2 until they fell off.

Thanks for all the props for our striker pins but, for what its worth... Our striker pins are designed for our tube doors and probably wouldn't work so well with the factory doors.

I should've taken some when I was at the yards...I didn't think to because I didn't need them. Mine have metal bushing sleeves instead of the plastic...and the originals are torx...
