Well, I finally got my blazer just about perfect (for me). 3/4 ton, wheels, tires, engine, etc. Some POS stole it from my office Wednesday and stripped and burned it.

No full coverage of course, so I'm probably going to fork over $300 and go pick it up from the impound yard.

I want the axles, suspension, steering box brace, pitman arm, etc. Do yall think there would be any damage to these items if it is not obvious? The plastic shock boots were not melted, just everything inside. They took the engine.

Any thoughts?

Duuuuuuuuddee! That really sucks. Sorry to hear and see that. Looks like you could almost get a donor tub / truck and move the tub and engine over or whatever swap would be easiest. Focks like that need to be worm food. I guess that's why I spent the $300 for LoJack on my junk.

Bummer man... really sorry to hear about that. But, half glass full, just switch a tub over like Hoby said and you can atleast have a head start. There's some pretty good deals right now if you keep an eye out. Shouldn't be too hard to track down another. I'll keep an eye out for ya. Those kind of people just need to eat **** and die

sorry to hear this man.total wreck huh.any luck on finding them?the heat of a fire can cause a lot of damage you cant see without tearing things apart.if they just burned the interior, everything under that should be fine.the tub would have stopped the heat.

Dude that sucks. I'm not sure if you can do this since the vehicle was recovered but when my last blazer was stolen (and never found) i was able to write it off as a casualty loss on my tax return that year. You might check into that, i only got back $2,000.00 on a $16,000.00 loss but better than a swift kick in the nuts (i think)

At any rate, let this be a hard lesson learned and when you do either find another rig or fix this one get comprehensive insurance on your policy as well (it covers fire, theft, vadalism) and also make sure your policy has uninsured/under insured motorist. This is basically enough to cover any of your loss with the exception of repairing your vehicle if YOU hit someone.

We get a lot of stolen cars burned around here. I have seen a lot of guys re use the engines. Typically they only use the block and heads... replace every gasket, and check the lighter metals like valves and valve springs to make sure they werent damaged by the heat.

sorry buddy,,,,,,,,,,,,

if that ever happened to me i have a list of people that would find them and then that would be the last time thay were ever seen walking or ...... if you get my drift.

That sucks...

To your question - the burn/heat line looks well above the axles. I would doubt that the axles took on any real heat. Look at the vent tubes, rubber brake lines on both axles and plastic covering on the parking brake cable at the rear drums. That will tell you how much heat the stuff actually got.

Man, Im sorry to see that. Its disgusting that they go so far as to burn it, as having it stolen and stripped arent bad enough.
