ok so on my '87 suburban i have a death wobble. i'm trying to shim the kingpins and on the passenger side it was no problem. when i tried to loosen the bolts that hold the cap down on the drivers side, two of them came off with no problem but the other two started to strip. and a combination of me being impatient and using the wrong size socket worsened the stripping. vise grips won't work here. these babies are on GOOD. i've tried WD and all that but no avail.

anyone have any spiffy techniques for removing stripped bolts? also would anyone happen to know the bolt size/ thread pattern/ length for these bolts? my truck being up at the house i like to get my parts before i head all the way back home.

On my D60 those bolts are studs with nuts. If the nut is stripped, maybe use a chisel and hammer. Position the chisel to loosen the nut and start hitting. If is looses, great, if not, keep hitting and cut it loose from the stud.

Don't know the stud/nut size.

WD won't cut it, get something better. I suggest getting a can of Kroil and let it soak overnight.

okay thanks guys ill let you know how it goes. im gonna go see if i can get some super penetrating oil at ace right now.
