I`m mounting this box on my firewall for my battery. On the inside behind each bolt I`m using 2"x2"x1/8th" square spacers to add strength to the mounts, so it doesn`t want to pull through. My question is, will the top two bent over tabs be strong enough for the top mounts? I`ll use those to points, and two in the middle of the back of the box.

Just what I wanted to hear. As far as the fab work goes, thank AFCO(got it from summit), as thats who made it :p: I should`ve just went along with it, started getting that warm fuzzy feeling when I read that, then I realized I bought it :o Some day....

Drill your holes as close to the bend as possible and use a good quality, preferably thick washer. Keep the weanher on the flat surface just right off the bend. If you drill a hole out at the small end it may bend out over time and off road bouncing around.

Ben,

The hold-down is just as big of an issue... I've seen batteries fall out of perfectly strong battery boxes because the hold-downs were underengineered. A battery falling face down in the engine compartment is a great way to start an electrical fire.

Offroad trucks need a lot more than a simple set of fingers over the lower battery flanges... once you start landing those big-air jumps everything need to be stronger than you realize. :D
